Your 2017 eclipse description reminds me of Annie Dilliard's essay about her experience seeing an eclipse. Definitely an experience worth taking time out for! Lovely! Thanks for sharing.
"It is human nature to want to be wowed. For writers, the slant is the art of casting the common uncommon. It is the art of revealing the astonishment of what has always been true, but perhaps unnoticed before."
Thank you! What a fantastic reflection in preparation for today's unique celestial moment. I continue be grateful, in particular, for your closing blessings, which always say what I need to hear it seems. Keep writing.
I love the poem at the end - is it yours? May it be copied with attribution?
It’s mine and yes of course!
Loved this! I've been working on my own reflection on this and the 2017 eclipse. Your reflection inspired me to keep going.

"the litany of the unsurprised" -- so good.
I didn't get to see the eclipse, but I still embrace the "wows" in my everyday life. They remind me--again and again--of the awesomeness of God.
Thank you for this reflection. Blessings to you!
